Tennis Games and Drills

From warm up tennis drills to fun tennis drills for beginners and tennis drills for two players or a large group, our professional tennis instructors have a little something for everyone. Your tennis skills are sure to improve when you join one of our drill sessions, plus you’ll meet new friends and enjoy every second!

Our tennis drills help you improve your targeting, footwork, strokes, accuracy, and serving, to name just a few of the benefits of participating in tennis drills. You can enjoy these drills with a group during our drill sessions or you can practice on your own or with a partner!

  • Rally: This is the most simple yet valuable drill practice you’ll engage in. You’ll stand on opposite sides of the court and practice hitting forehand and backhand shots back and forth. The goal is to focus on consistency and control.
  • Partner volley drill: Here, you’ll move to the net with a partner. One of you will feed the ball softly to the other’s forehand and backhand volleys.
  • Overhead practice: Your partner will toss balls for you to practice hitting overhead shots.
  • Target serving: In this drill, your instructor will set up targets for you to practice serving to specific locations. The goal is to focus on accuracy and then add power once your accuracy is on point.
  • Agility ladder drills: Footwork is a crucial part of your game. Practice your footwork by navigating through an agility ladder on the tennis court. Moving in quick steps and crossovers, you’ll build muscle memory to improve footwork.
  • Mini-tennis: For practice with control and ball placement/targeting, you might play mini-tennis. You’ll do this on a smaller section of the court with a foam or low-compression ball.
  • Wall rallies: Hit the ball against a wall and practice controlling the bounce as it comes back to you.
  • Doubles tennis drills – alley drill: This drill involves playing points only where specific side sections/alleys on the court are in play. The goal of this drill is to improve your ball placement and court awareness.
  • King of the Court: This group drill involves taking turns playing against each other. The winner stays on, and the objective is to win as many consecutive points as possible.
  • Target challenges: This competitive drill improves your accuracy. Your coach will place targets on the court for you to hit into for points.
  • Trick shots: Just for the fun of it, and for a better understanding of how you hit, get creative and try some trick shots like lobs, behind-the-back hits, or between-the-legs shots.

The beauty of tennis drills is they are a great way to improve your tennis skills while having fun and building relationships with others who enjoy tennis like you do! Approach every drill with a positive attitude, embrace the process, and you are sure to see progress in your game. Our tennis instructors consistently change up the drills to ensure you’re practicing a wide range of skills. From beginners to more experienced tennis players, all are sure to enjoy the excitement and fun that tennis drills bring to your game!
